Whether you’re planning a small event or a large convention, Shaw Centre has meeting and activity rooms of almost every size and configuration. But did you know that we’re also home to one of Ottawa’s most flexible and innovative event spaces? Shaw Centre’s crEATe Kitchen is a boutique-style studio offering myriad interactive possibilities to help you deliver an unforgettable experience for groups of 5 to 50 guests.
About a year and a half ago, we decided it was time to start promoting this exciting culinary offering. Our first big event involved invited a group of individuals who love to write about food, drink and fun in the nation’s capital. We threw a delightful, interactive dinner party that impressed everyone in attendance and adeptly showcased both the venue and the services of our world-class culinary team. It event landed us the Best Marketing Initiative Award at the Best Ottawa Business Awards (BOBs) in 2015!
After hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and live entertainment, our guests enjoyed sitting back, sipping wine and watching as our Chef demonstrated using the latest techniques and freshest ingredients. Given Shaw Centre’s reputation for excellent food, it came as no surprise that the multi-course gourmet meal served was inventive and absolutely scrumptious. We accomplished our goal that night of showing this group of influential writers how an event in the crEATe Kitchen would be the ideal choice for team building, a special celebration or client appreciation.
One of the things in which we take great pride for every event at Shaw Centre is customization, and crEATe Kitchen is no exception. Want to don aprons and cook alongside our Chef and his team? No problem. Want to explore a specific cuisine or culinary technique? We can work with you to develop an event that is as special and unique as you are. Thanks to our extensive cellars, we can also offer guided wine pairings and tastings too. We love to play around with creative plating, artistic invitations and impressive entertainment, to make every aspect of your time in the crEATe studio as memorable as possible.
In addition to a lavishly-appointed private cooking and dining area, the crEATe space includes an adjacent private reception area, ideal for drinks, hors d’oeuvres and mingling before the main event. Given our location in the heart of downtown Ottawa, we can also help tie in additional events to round out your crEATe experience. Depending on the season, before or after your culinary adventures you might enjoy a guided walking tour of historic Ottawa, a boat trip on the Rideau Canal or Ottawa River, or a performance at the National Arts Centre, to name just a few possibilities.
As the only convention centre in the world to have a state-of-the-art, interactive cooking space for our guests to enjoy, Shaw Centre is pleased to see this space being used in so many different ways. Local cooking shows have been filmed in our crEATe Kitchen and we’ve hosted culinary demonstrations as well. The space is ideal for birthday, engagement or anniversary parties, celebrating sporting activities, corporate events, board meetings, pre-conference planning sessions or post-conference events.
Just like our main kitchen, crEATe Kitchen is committed to culinary excellence which starts with fresh, seasonal, regional, organic and sustainable ingredients, and extends through preparation, plating and service.
