With spring in full bloom, our team decided this was the perfect time to purge our closets and give back to the community. Shaw Centre partnered with a local organization, Dress for Success, which helps empower women to achieve economic independence by providing them with professional attire, development tools, and a support network.

If you have items in your closet that you no longer wear, consider donating them to women in need. Dress for Success works with women looking to enter or re-enter the workforce but may not have the appropriate attire or financial independence to support this type of wardrobe.

To help support this cause, the Shaw Centre hosted a clothing drive to give back to local women in our communities who need these items the most. Shaw Centre staff collected gently used items such as blazers, pantsuits, footwear, and more, organized and sorted them in our show offices. The items were then delivered to the local Dress for Success location and in doing so, we were able to divert these items from landfills and give them another life.

“I just wanted to express my gratitude to the team at the Shaw Centre for their generous donation. These items are truly invaluable to our clients and will go a long way in helping them succeed. The professional attire that your team has provided will make a significant difference in the lives of women in our communities, as it will help them feel confident and empowered during interviews and in the workplace. Thank you again for your kindness and support!”

"Giving back to the community has always been important to me. So, when it was time to do my spring closet cleanout, it felt good knowing that my clothes were going to Dress for Success Ottawa. Helping to organize this donation drive with the Shaw Centre staff was a fun activity that can make a real difference to women in our community – I was proud to be part of it!"
