Years of dedication were recognized at Shaw Centre’s annual long-term service award ceremony, re-enforcing the important role of the staff to the overall success of the facility. As a runner-up for the title of World’s Best Convention Centre in 2014, a prestigious award handed out by the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC), its staff’s dedication and efforts seem to be working.
The LEED gold-certified meeting facility, which prides itself on being a leader of sustainable practices while providing the best in audiovisual, culinary excellence and extraordinary service, launched its Long-Term Service Award program in 1999 to thank employees that have been with the organization for five years or more.
The Shaw Centre, a recent Ontario Business Achievement (OBAA) Service Excellence Award recipient, honored 22 long-standing employees who have completed 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 years in the service, in a special celebration held at its facility in the 1st floor Colonel By Foyer under the support of Nina Kressler, President and CEO of the Shaw Centre, and in the presence of members of the senior management.
“These awards allow us to honor and esteem experienced Shaw Centre employees for their knowledge and ongoing contribution to the achievements and success of our business.” says Nina Kressler, President and CEO of the Shaw Centre, “Our Long-Term Service Award program is a valuable and valued component of our comprehensive employee recognition efforts.”

The Shaw Centre is very proud of its ability to retain dedicated employees and delighted to celebrate these compassionate team members. In fact, since the re-opening of the Centre in 2011, over 145 Long Term Service Awards have been distributed to employees; including 5 for 20 years, 4 for 25 years and 2 for 30 years.
Loretta Briard, General Manager of the Shaw Centre, thanked the long service staff for their sincere efforts throughout their past service. Commemorative recognition pins and prizes were awarded.
