SHAW CENTRE ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE OF CEO

“On behalf of our Board of Directors, I want to thank Pat for his contribution to our success in the convention industry. Pat was instrumental in the establishment, construction and operations of our Centre since he took on the challenge in March 2007” said Mr. Seaman.“As our founding CEO, Pat has successfully completed his mandate and he has led a team effort to position the Shaw Centre and Ottawa as a world class convention destination for generations to come. Now is an appropriate time for the Board to move to the next phase of our development with an enhanced focus on national and international marketing, under a renewed direction and mandate”.

“I would like to thank the past and present Board of Directors for the extraordinary opportunity of leading the development and opening of the Shaw Centre. I would also like to thank the superb team at the Shaw Centre for all of their support and dedication during our remarkable journey. I am proud of what our team has accomplished during the past several years, and I’m excited with the future growth prospects for the Centre and Ottawa as a national and global convention destination. I wish the Board and the Shaw Centre team all the very best as they continue to build upon the reputation of “Canada’s Meeting Place”, said Mr. Kelly.

“The Board is pleased that Pat has agreed to stay on for three months and facilitate an orderly transition. A CEO search committee of the Board has been struck and a process to replace Mr. Kelly is underway”, added Mr. Seaman.

About Shaw Centre
The Shaw Centre was founded as the Ottawa Congress Centre in 1983. With project funding from the Province of Ontario, the City of Ottawa and the Government of Canada, a brand new facility was constructed from 2009-2011, and was renamed the Ottawa Convention Centre, opening in April 2011. In October 2014, the OCC and Shaw Communications entered in a 10 year partnership, rebranding the OCC as the Shaw Centre. The Shaw Centre is a state-of-the-art convention centre and was recently named runner-up as the world’s best convention centre by the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC).
