OTTAWA, ON – The Shaw Centre is honoured to announce that it has won the International Association of Conference Centres (AIPC) APEX award for “World’s Best Convention Centre”. The Shaw Centre joins a prestigious list of convention centres from around the world who have claimed this title.
“The award is a testament to our exceptional team and the commitment of providing superior experiences to our clients and their delegates.” says Nina Kressler, President and CEO of the Shaw Centre. “This gives our team a welcomed boost during these tough times for our industry and will motivate us as we build towards the future.”
The award is granted every two years in recognition of the highest rating on client surveys received by a convention centre. It is based on a comprehensive analysis of the centre’s performance based on customer satisfaction surveys. An independent “blind” evaluation process carried out by Ipsos, a recognized international market research company, ensures an objective analysis of the data which addresses a series of factors including centre facilities, project management capabilities, catering and technical capacity.
“This is a historic moment for the Shaw Centre and the city of Ottawa. Winning this award will elevate our world-class facility and draw international attention.” says Jo-Anne Poirier, Chair of the Shaw Centre’s Board of Directors. “This global recognition amongst convention centres will assist in attracting events to the Shaw Centre and the city, which will aid in the economic recovery of the hospitality sector.”
The award was presented at the recent AIPC annual conference in Lausanne, Switzerland. The Shaw Centre was chosen from a group of 18 convention centre finalists which included locations from around the world.
As health and safety is, and always will be, a priority at the Shaw Centre several new measures have been implemented to enhance its already high-level delegate experience. The Shaw Centre looks forward to providing exceptional experiences with this newly acclaimed international recognition.
